Impact & Reporting

🌍 Sustainability at the Heart of Every Thread

At Adirelounge, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s our way of life. Our mission is to preserve traditional textile craftsmanship while protecting the planet and empowering people. Here's how we do it:

♻️ Eco-Friendly Dyeing Techniques

We use plant-based and low-impact dyes that are gentle on the environment. Our traditional Adire hand-dyeingprocess consumes less energy and produces minimal waste compared to industrial dyeing methods.

🧵 Slow Fashion, Thoughtfully Made

Each piece is made-to-order or in small batches, honoring the slow fashion philosophy. This minimizes overproduction and ensures that every product is cherished, not discarded.

👩🏾🎨 Empowering Women Artisans

We work with local women artisans to create our textiles, providing skill-building, fair wages, and economic independence. Each piece tells a story — of hands, heritage, and hope.

🌾 100% Homegrown Cotton & Natural Blends

We source locally grown cotton and use natural cotton blends, supporting ethical farming while reducing transportation emissions. Our textiles are breathable, and kinder to the earth.

🌱 Low-Waste & Plastic-Free Packaging

Our packaging is plastic-free, recyclable, or compostable. We keep our footprint light from production to delivery — because sustainability doesn’t stop at the product.

📸 Transparent Impact Tracking

We’re building a platform that lets our customers see the real impact of their purchases — from water saved and CO₂ reduced to worker welfare and craft preservation.

Preserving Culture, Protecting People & Planet

Adirelounge is where African heritage meets ethical innovation. Every fabric carries history, every dye pot holds tradition, and every stitch leads to a more sustainable future.

JEDI Commitment Statement

Adirelounge is committed to advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion throughout our business and value chain. We seek to create fair and respectful relationships with artisans, suppliers, customers, partners and communities. We are committed to inclusive collaboration, equitable opportunities, ethical sourcing and continuous improvement in the way we design our products, operate our business and work with the people and communities connected to our activities.

Climate Action Plan

Adirelounge recognizes the urgency of the climate crisis and is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations, products and value chain. We support the global ambition to limit warming to 1.5°C and will progressively measure, reduce and report our environmental impacts.

Because our manufacturing is primarily carried out through external production partners, our climate strategy focuses on responsible material selection, production efficiency, packaging, transportation and supplier engagement.

Climate Action Link

Our SMART Climate Targets:

Adirelounge has established practical, time-bound climate and environmental targets focused on responsible sourcing, sustainable materials, packaging, waste reduction and transparency. Progress will be reviewed annually.

  • Supplier engagement: Provide the Adirelounge Supplier Code of Conduct to 100% of key production and material suppliers by December 31, 2027.
  • Material transparency: Maintain documented material composition and available sustainability certification information for 100% of active products by December 31, 2027.
  • Packaging: Maintain 100% plastic-free customer packaging, where product protection requirements allow, from 2026 onward.
  • Environmental tracking: Establish an annual environmental metrics tracker covering materials, packaging, waste and relevant operational impacts by December 31, 2026.
  • Stakeholder transparency: Publish an annual update on progress against our Climate Action Plan beginning December 31, 2027.

Annual Operations Tracking (Fiscal Year Baseline):

  • Adirelounge will establish an annual baseline and track the following environmental indicators:

    • Energy Use: Annual electricity and energy consumption associated with our direct operations.
    • Operational Waste: Relevant waste generated through our direct operations and the proportion diverted from disposal through reuse or recycling where measurable.
    • Water Consumption: Annual water consumption associated with our direct operations, where measurable.
    • Packaging: Percentage of customer packaging that is plastic-free and recyclable, reusable or compostable.
    • Materials: Proportion of active products for which material composition and relevant environmental certifications are documented.

Because Adirelounge’s manufacturing is primarily outsourced, supplier and production-related environmental impacts will be addressed through our supplier engagement and material sourcing program.

Stakeholder Engagement
We engage workers and contractors, suppliers, customers, business partners, communities and consider environmental interests in our decision-making. We use feedback, surveys, supplier assessments, grievance mechanisms and environmental reviews to understand stakeholder interests and incorporate relevant findings into our business decisions.

Supply Chain & Human Rights

Because much of our product manufacturing is carried out through external production partners, responsible supply-chain practices are an important part of Adirelounge’s environmental and social impact strategy.

  • Global Alignment: Adirelounge is committed to respecting internationally recognized human rights principles, including the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and relevant International Labour Organization (ILO) standards.
  • Supplier Accountability: Adirelounge communicates its expectations regarding ethical business practices, human rights, working conditions and environmental responsibility through its Supplier Code of Conduct.

Adirelounge believes that people affected by our business decisions should have a safe and accessible way to raise concerns, provide feedback and seek resolution.

Employees, workers, suppliers, production partners, customers, business partners and other stakeholders may submit a concern, complaint or grievance regarding our operations, products, workplace practices, supply chain or business relationships.

  • Our Grievance Process: We acknowledge submissions within 5 business days and aim to review and resolve grievances within 30 days, depending on the complexity of the matter. Individuals who raise concerns in good faith are protected from retaliation. Where reasonably possible, information will be handled confidentially.

Fabric Technique

This technique involves small imperfections in the print but also a return to an artisanal technique and the promotion of natural gestures.

Every effort has been made to photograph and represent the true colors of the fabric, but it may appear slightly different due to the varied representation of colors on different devices and monitors.

Also, if you have purchased this fabric before, it will not be exactly the same as the one shown. Due to the unpredictable and organic nature of the dyeing process of batik, the outcome often varies.
